Labor API will enforce passcode validation
On 2026-09-14, the labor API will validate employee passcode values when you create or update an employee. The passcode value indicates the POS access code used by a location employee to sign into the Toast POS. POS access codes are also known as passcodes or Personal Identification Numbers (PINs).
A passcode value must have a length of three to eight characters. On or after 2026-09-14, if your labor API request attempts to set an employee passcode value with fewer than three or more than eight characters, the labor API will reject the request and return an error message.
For more information about POS access codes, see Toast platform access types. For more information about the passcode value, see labor API reference documentation.
